Jeffery Wilson continues to contribute attractive and playable music to our ever expanding clarinet and saxophone repertoire. Girl Names is loosely based on notes derived from the names Katie, Helen and Emma.
The first of the three pieces is a pleasant 6/8 lilt; Helen is a steady Andante, while the finale is a waltz to tax lazy fingers. Technically the pieces are about Grade 5 standard, although they all make a lot of use of medium to upper register passage work. The pieces stand by themselves as pretty recital items, and they are very useful for students who are approaching the upper register yet require more confidence.
