Three Carols Three More Carols Testimonials Home

Following the success of the first set of three Roderick Elms' carol arrangements, Camden Music is pleased to announce the publication of a second set entitled, simply, Three More Carols. Both sets are detailed below, complete with Real Audio sound clips.

"I programmed Roderick Elms' arrangements of Gabriel's Message, The Rocking Carol and Angels from the Realms of Glory with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in their Christmas Special concert in December 1997. The arrangements are gorgeous, with colourful orchestrations and beautifully written vocal parts.
"The scorings are pleasantly innovative while retaining the traditional character of the originals. The audiences, musicians and choristers all greatly enjoyed them.
"Following their success I am programming Mr Elms' three new carol arrangements Coventry Carol, Silent Night and In Dulci Jubilo with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at their Christmas Special Concerts in December 1998.
"I warmly recommend these delightful and very satisfying new versions of old favourites to all conductors interested in having high quality arrangements to perform at Christmas time."

More testimonials

"I found these delightful arrangements of Christmas Carols a welcome addition to the repertoire. Highly effective and straightforward, they range from the dramatic Coventry Carol to the sparkling version of Angels from the Realms of Glory with its Latin American flavour in the accompaniment and effortless, subtle, key changes.
"A must for the discerning choral director and equally impressive in the settings for solo flute with piano/organ as in their versions for chamber orchestra."

Jonathan Venner
Director of the Wykeham Singers and Director of Music at Romford Parish Church

"It was a great pleasure to give some of the earliest performances of four of Roderick Elms' Carol Arrangements - Gabriel's Message, Rocking, Angels from the Realms of Glory and In Dulci Jubilo. These imaginative versions of well-known and well-loved traditional tunes went down very well with singers and audience. They have a strong and tasteful musical integrity but also a lightness of touch and flexibility of harmony that characterise Roderick Elms' overall attractive musical style.
"They benefit from being available in the various combinations of instruments from piano/organ with obbligato flute to fuller orchestral versions. In the reduced version they make reasonable, though not excessive, demands on keyboard players and flautist, and were useful programme material for a Christmas concert wherein the players were able to contribute further duo items.
"I recommend them warmly."

Conductor - Waverley Singers, Farnham
